With great audiences in Yarmouth and Annapolis Royal, and full houses in Shelburne and Lunenburg, MCO’s first Carmen was a smash success! We’ll have more photos from our production from Carmen up soon, but here are a few from the Shelburne show.

Thanks to all who made this possible!

We’d like to thank everyone who made our Mad Hatter’s Tea Party on March 1st our most successful fundraiser ever!

Our special judges were Catherine and David, Heather Brill’s children, and they picked the following two winners:

Shelah Allen won for the most beautiful hat

David picked Kay’s fabulous creation as the Funniest Hat.

And here’s a quintet of Ernsts in their chapeaux:  from left to right, Elijah, John, Joshua, Peter and Eva, wearing the singing chicken.

Well, it’s that time of year again! As June progresses, so do the final plans and rehearsals for this year’s Summer Opera Festival. New in 2007 is our tour of Verdi’s La Traviata, the centrepiece of this year’s Festival. We’ll be taking the show to Yarmouth (June 15) and Annapolis Royal (June 17) — two new venues for us. These performances will be without chorus, but will feature all the principals, all the music you love, and projected English translations, our specialty.

You can catch the full production in Shelburne on June 21, or in Lunenburg on June 23. For these we pull out all the stops, and present the opera with the resources of the MCO Chorus.

And on June 22, you can hear some of the most splendid musical theatre ever written as MCO presents An Evening with Richard Rodgers: With a Song in My Heart.
