Acis & Galatea is a charming pastoral story about the nymph Galatea, the shepherd Acis and the giant Polyphemus. While the story ends sadly (Polyphemus kills Acis in a jealous rage) Galatea transforms her late lover into a fountain, thus immortalizing him.
The principal roles are sung by Nova Scotian professional singers Jennifer Farrell, Colin Frotten, Jon-Paul Decosse and Andrew Pickett with Tara Scott as Musical Director and the Maritime Concert Opera Chorus.
Performances will be Saturday, October 21, 7:30PM, Central United Church, Lunenburg and Sunday, October 22, 3:00PM at Lilian Piercey Concert Hall, Maritime Conservatory of Performing Arts, Halifax.
