About Rob O'Quinn

We held an MCO Board meeting yesterday and want to share with you our plans for the next year and a half.
Sadly we do not see it as feasible to plan for any production during the rest of 2020, nor do we think it likely we will be able to put on our usual summer opera in June 2021.
We hope to be able to plan for a production of some kind in the fall of 2021.  Hopefully by that time singing will not be regarded as a dangerous activity!
If an effective vaccine is developed and becomes readily available, we will adapt our thinking accordingly.
Meanwhile we hope you all stay safe and well – and we look forward, eventually, to bringing more wonderful music to you.
Warmest regards,
Board Members, MCO

After considerable discussion we have decided very sadly to cancel the June 2020 production of The Merry Widow.

Current restrictions on travel and gatherings will most likely be lifted only very slowly and we have absolutely no guarantee that life will return to normal by June.

It is so very disappointing to do this but we hope you will all understand.

Mark your calendars for the June production of Gilbert and Sullivan’s The Pirates of Penzance.

MCO will present this lively operetta at the Osprey Arts Centre in Shelburne on Tuesday, June 18, in Halifax at the Maritime Conservatory on Thursday, June 20 and in Lunenburg at Central United Church on Staruday, June 22. All shows will begin at 7.30 p.m.

We have an all-Nova Scotia cast including soprano Jodie Alcorn-Miller, tenor Patrick Simms, baritone Ross Thompson, bass J-P Décosse and, of course, our wonderful Music Director Tara Scott.

Tickets for Shelburne will be available from the theatre. Tickets for Halifax and Lunenburg will be available in late May.
